As a scientist, I have studied various aspects of biology. I began by measuring background radio activity in biomolecules from fishes, cloning DNA sequence of silkworms and studying human gene mutations during my pre-doctoral years. Then, I moved on to engineering the mouse genome and investigating skin stem cells during my PhD. This was followed by researching the brain and studying RNA splicing during my postdoctoral work. This diverse background and experience allows me to merge different disciplines, techniques, and perspectives in my research and enable me to see the bigger picture.
Science is my primary drive, and I am equally committed to being a supportive and accessible mentor. My goal is to foster a lab environment that values equity and diversity, and promotes open communication, collaboration, and mutual respect. I believe these attributes not only foster creativity and innovation, essential for groundbreaking scientific discoveries, but also make the process of doing science more enjoyable.
